Ōkami Dō Karate e.V. sees itself as a humanist, free and open club. Its work is grounded in a fundamentally science-oriented attitude: traditions are examined, sources are named, and claims that cannot be substantiated are marked as such.
Openness
Training is open to all people – regardless of origin, skin colour, religion or worldview, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability. Mutual consideration, respect and humanity are the foundation of life together in the Dōjō.
Neutrality
The club is neutral in party politics, religion and worldview and upholds the principle of tolerance. The statutes state that the club grants all people equal rights, is humanist and democratic in its outlook and condemns any form of violence (see The club, § 2).
No judging
At the same time, there is no judging at Ōkami Dō. The teaching of the Dao suggests freeing oneself from judgements and accepting things as what they are. Openness and a scientific attitude are therefore not mutually exclusive: statements and methods are examined, not people.
Dōjō Kun and the way of the wolf
A Dōjō Kun of its own does not exist yet; it is in the works. The direction is clear, though: the way of the wolf connects each individual’s own path with the pack. Everyone trains for themselves and on themselves, but nobody trains alone. The group grows together, looks out for one another and takes the years that real karate needs.
